What is sea glass?

It is broken glass that is smoothed and polished from being tumbled in the ocean waves and sand. This process can take anywhere from 30 to 40 years, depending on the amount of polish. Thanks to mother nature, our discarded trash is transformed into something more beautiful and unique!

Why is there so much variation in Past Life Jewelry sea glass?

The formation of genuine sea glass is a completely random process and therefor lends itself to each piece retaining it's own special characteristics! They are sea glass sisters, not twins :)
You may see other 'sea glass' jewelry that is more uniform and without any character. This is most likely manufactured 'sea glass' which is made from modern-day glass being broken and tossed into a rock tumbler or dipped in acid to produce the desired finish.
